The UK's leading professional development course solely for piano teachers,
"My result (and indeed everyone's in the Dip group) isn't just a reflection of our hard work, but it is also a reflection of you as a Teacher and of the PTC. In one of our weirdest years ever [Covid Lockdown] you all amanaged to guide us and steer us towards success." VW, October. 2021
"It’s been an amazing year and just the best course, better than I ever imagined. Thanks so much to you and all the tutors for providing a very special experience.” JB, June 2019
“You brought the subject matters to life and made them enjoyable, relevant and creative. I have learned so much and my teaching has evolved so much primarily because of your support, advice, encouragement and care.” JS, June 2018
Held at The Purcell School of Music, Bushey, Hertfordshire, The Piano Teachers' Course UK will deepen, develop and transform your piano teaching and performing as you learn from eminent pedagogues and professors of international standing, in an unfailingly supportive environment.
Aimed at refreshing and stimulating existing teachers' ideas, as well as guiding and giving confidence to those new to the profession, it consists of three residential weekends, with five further weekend days, and home study. Lecture-workshops with student participation, tutor groups sessions and individual tutorials are all included.
The Certificate of the Piano Teachers’ Course UK
The course leads to The Certificate of the Piano Teachers’ Course UK, and entitles holders to membership of The Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) and The European Piano Teachers' Association (EPTA UK). Students wishing to opt out of the written assignments are eligible for The Piano Teachers' Course UK Certificate of Professional Development.
The Teaching DipABRSM and LRSM
The PTC offers courses of study directly towards all of the requirements for the Teaching Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM) and the Teaching Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM): Section 1 Teaching Skills Viva Voce, Section 2.1 Written Submission and Section 2.2 Quick Study.
PTC students who gained their Cert PTC during or after the year 2015 are exempt from the DipABRSM's Section 2.1 Written Submission.
Continuing Professional Development Days (CPD)
Finally, there are many Continuing Professional Development Days (CPD), inclusive of Teachers' Forums and optional additional Private Lessons with PTC tutors, for those wishing to pop in and out, without commiting to a specific course.

"What a wonderful legacy you are giving 21st century piano teaching. Just last week I was singing the praises of the course and saying how it was the beginning of everything for me...and you started me off on my journey learning to improvise!"
KH, former student, October 2017
"I just wanted to thank you for the chats over the weekend and the time you took ... Being a great pianist and leader is one thing, but being sensitive to and caring about your students really makes the difference."
DG, April 2018
