Psychology for my students #6
If you find yourself feeling anxious or inadequate when teaching, you may have picked up your pupil's feelings.
Feelings travel gut to gut, by-passing reason ...So we may easily pick up our pupils' feelings and feel them in our own hearts and stomachs as though they are our own.
Psychotherapists call this "Countertransference", and they use it as a therapeutic tool to help them understand how their clients are feeling.
